Dubai: A private chauffeur has admitted that he threatened to dishonour a woman in front of her husband by saying she had extramarital affairs if she refused to have sex with him.

The 22-year-old Pakistani man, Y.M., was said to have been hired by the Pakistani housewife’s husband as a private driver before he approached her and expressed that he was in love with her and that he wanted to sleep with her.

“Yes, I am guilty. I did threaten to tell her husband,” said Y.M. before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the defendant verbally threatened the 28-year-old Pakistani woman saying that he would defame and dishonour her in front of her husband if she refused to sleep with him.

The woman testified that her husband hired the defendant as the family’s private chauffeur in 2012.

“One day the suspect was driving me to a location when he told me that he loved me and that he thought I was good woman. I was angry at him and scolded him. Then I warned him that I considered him like my brother and that he should not speak to me like that. On September 3, I asked him to get the car ready because I wanted him to drop me to Mirdif...on our way there, he told me that he loved me and that I always treated him like a driver.

“Then he claimed that he had a video recording showing me in an indecent situation. He threatened that if he showed the video to anyone, I would be in trouble and that my husband would leave me. He asked me to have sex with him if I did not want anybody to see the video,” claimed the housewife. Records showed that the defendant threatened to show the video to the husband if she did not have sex with him.

The housewife claimed to prosecutors that the defendant also threatened her via SMS.

A judgement will be heard on November 18.
