Sharjah: A 13-year-old Emirati boy tragically lost his life recently after the car he was driving overturned on Maleiha Road.
Authorities believe the boy was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the fatal crash.
The Sharjah Police operations room received a call about the accident incident last Saturday but despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, the boy was declared dead at the scene. His body was transferred to Al Dhaid Hospital for further examination.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
Underage driving
This incident has brought renewed attention to the dangers of underage driving. UAE police have long cautioned parents against allowing their children to drive without a valid license, emphasising the importance of safety and adherence to traffic laws.
Authorities continue to urge parents to ensure their children do not get behind the wheel, as it poses both significant safety risks and legal consequences.

Driving age lowered
The UAE government last month amended the traffic law lowering the minimum age of driving to 17. Earlier, only those aged 18 are eligible to get a driving licence.
