Dubai: The GEMS Modern Academy will be holding a student theatre production called Rihalat Al Hayat- The Journey of Life at the school’s auditorium on January 21 and 25.

The production, which is the first of its kind in the UAE, will include 104 children from grades seven to 11 who will perform a mixture of puppetry, poetry, theatre, art and music.

A combination of the words of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Persian poet Jalaluddin Rumi, Khalil Gibran and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore come alive in the journey, traversing the miles from the past to the present and beyond.

“This is an experience that allows the children to push their own boundaries and discover facets of themselves which they never knew existed,” said Nargish Khambatta, principal of the school.

The show was made in collaboration with Padmashri Dadi Pudumjee and Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust.

Shows will be held on January 21 at 6pm, and January 25 at 5pm and 7pm, at the school’s auditorium, The Sunny Varkey Centre for Performing Arts.
