Dubai A teenager has been accused of working as a prostitute after she told the police she had been raped.

Prosecutors accused the 19-year-old Moroccan girl, K.M, and a 29-year-old, F.B., also from Morocco, of working in prostitution.

"No I did not do that. I am not a prostitute," said K.M. when she defended herself before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.

F.B. also pleaded not guilty when she defended herself before Presiding Judge Jasem Al Beloushi. "My friend, F.B., and I and a third girl were in a coffee shop in Abu Hail. A man, M.I., who is F.B.'s friend, came and sat with us. Then we went to a flat in Al Muraqqabat. At first I refused to go because I was scared, but then I agreed after F.B. reassured to me that nothing wrong would happen.

"Upon F.B.'s persistence I drank a cup of vodka. When he said he wanted to have sex with me, I refused. Then F.B. told me that he would beat me if I refused to sleep with him.

"Then he locked me up in a bedroom and had sex with me against my will. M.I. left the flat. Then I grabbed the phone and called Dubai Police's Operation Room and reported them that I got raped… police raided the flat and arrested us," K.M. claimed during questioning.

She told prosecutors a Syrian woman had confiscated her passport and coerced her into the sex industry. She alleged that she had sex with nearly 40 Arabic men and they paid between Dh1,000 and Dh1,500 for six hours.

The court reconvenes on June 4.
