Ras Al Khaimah: Three Asian hikers who lost their way at a height of 4,500 feet were rescued by Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Air Wing on Monday.
Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Rashid Al Yamahi, who heads the Air Wing at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said they moved to the scene after three hikers were reported lost on the top of Ghaleila mountain at a height of 4,500 feet.
The rescue team found the hikers after a 15-minute search and they were in poor health due to thirst and exhaustion. First aid was given to them at the site and then they were transported to hospital.
Lt Col Al Yamahi said those who wish to climb mountains must exercise caution.
He said the mountainous areas are rugged and special coordination must be carried out with the authorities to ensure safety.
