The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), stepping up its campaign to arrest corrupt elements, has gathered bank account details of at least 100 people.

According to a report published in the English-language daily, The News, banks across the country have sent in these details to NAB.

The banks had previously been warned that action against them could be taken if the details were not made available.

The list collected by NAB includes the names of major politicians, retired army men and senior bureaucrats.

All those who have in their accounts wealth beyond what would usually be expected of people in their position, are being investigated.

It is also thought that investigations against other politicians ahead of polls can lead to them being disqualified from contest.
