Acclaimed Japanese calligraphy artist Koshun Masunaga, who specialises in paintings in India ink, will be unveiling her unique creations on Dubai at an exhibition to be held at the Hunar Art Gallery from March 13 to 28, as part of the art events of Dubai Shopping Festival.

Masunaga, who was in Dubai last April, was seized by the uniqueness of the UAE culture and was inspired to produce some unusual works on the people, women, and the desert with its wealth, its verdure, water and food.

She has produced some interesting works in India ink of Burj Al Arab, the dhows and women in abayas. India ink is characterised by its blackness. A single line or spots can be drawn once and cannot be drawn over or erased.

Alongside the exhibition, Masunaga will be doing a number of demonstrations of her style of painting at the Hunar Art Gallery and other venues during her stay in Dubai. The Dubai exhibition is being sponsored by Lexus and Al Futtaim Motors.

Masunaga is returning to Dubai after a successful exhibition in Sou Boku (running ink) at Hunar Art Gallery. She has held numerous exhibitions and won many awards in France, Italy, Spain, Australia, China, Canada and New York.
