Dubai: Dubai Silicon Oasis will have its first smart police centre, completely free from any human intervention, before the end of this year.
Dubai Police recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) to build a smart police centre at the free zone tech park.
Completely free from any human intervention, the centre will start providing smart services later this year, Dubai Police announced.
The agreement was signed by Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Dr Mohammad Al Zarouni, vice-chairman and CEO of DSOA.
Both parties have agreed that the signing recognises their alignment to the vision and strategic directives of the country’s leadership.
Dubai Police and DSOA will work together to develop different aspects of the project and have it running this year.
The DSOA will identify optimal locations for the smart police centres while Dubai Police will handle all logistical and development aspects of the project, providing the necessary technology and software to operate the centres.
The smart stations will remain open 24 hours, seven days a week, offering 27 traffic- and crime-related services, as well as 33 community-related services.
Maj-Gen Al Merri said the smart stations will facilitate customer access to their services anytime, while the number of visitors to regular police stations is anticipated to decrease by 80 per cent. A smart police centre is a fully integrated self-service police station without human intervention that allows community members to apply for Dubai Police services that are available at traditional police stations, such as opening a criminal case and getting various certificates and permits.
The centres will also offer lost-and-found services allowing people who have found lost items in a public area to deposit them inside a cubicle.
The facility leverages smart interactive technologies to enable customers to complete their transactions without the need to visit traditional police stations, resulting in significant time saving and enhanced convenience.
DSO is a sprawling urban community spanning 7.2 square kilometres with mixed-use development like office towers, residential apartments and villas as well as industrial and educational centres.
According to DSOA, more than 162,000 work or live in the area.
