Dubai: The Mecca Police on Thursday arrested a young Saudi man who appeared in an online video pointing a machine gun in the air and shooting randomly, local media reported.

His friend, who filmed the video and shared it on social media platforms, was also arrested, Brigadier Mohammed Al Ghamdi, spokesman for the Mecca region’s police, said in a statement.

The two suspects are in their 30s. “Legal procedures have been taken to refer them to public prosecution,” Brig. Al Ghamdi said.

He added the suspects are in police custody now pending further investigation and trial.
