Sharjah: Sharjah Police are considering an initiative allowing residents to rent distinguishd plate numbers for a specific period, instead of outright ownership.
The lease is renewable.
Brigadier Saif Ziri Al Shamisi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, said that the initiative would allow people to use the special plate numbers under a “rental system”.
Starting bid for top 5 license plates cost over Dh100,000 each
Motorists can continue using the distinguished plates by renewing the lease contract over period covered by the lease.
The move is part of Ministry of Interior's strategic objectives which aimed at achieving customer satisfaction through their services and as part of the Sharjah police force’s endeavour to provide its services to all segments of society.
Sharjah Police had recently introduced new categories of number plates through online auctions, organised in collaboration with Emirates Auction Company which specialises in selling distinctive car plate numbers.
The previous auctions recorded high success rates as huge number of motorists turned up to bid for their favorite distinguished numbers.
