Sharjah: Sharjah Municipality has announced that they have impounded 1,693 abandoned cars in the emirate’s industrial areas in the first half of this year.

Omar Al Sharji, Director of Operations and Inspection at Sharjah Municipality, said that the vehicles were impounded because of the violations related to exhibiting light vehicles for sale and leaving other vehicles unattended for long periods of time in different locations in Sharjah’s industrial areas.

Some of the seized vehicles such as trucks do not have number plates and are parked in prohibited locations, he added.

Excluding the expenses of towing the vehicle and impounding it, a Dh500 fine has been issued as a violation fee, said Al Sharji. The municipality has released 1,267 out of the 1,693 vehicles that were seized after found abandoned in different areas of Sharjah.
