Dubai: The Think Pink movement in aid of breast cancer awareness was officially kicked off with the theme ‘Take a Pink Pledge’ by leading jewellery group Joyalukkas in association with Zulekha Hospital.
The month of October is dedicated to building awareness, educating and empowering women on breast cancer worldwide and the group is in its third consecutive year with its CSR initaitive.
“Our commitment to grow this movement of ‘Taking a Pink Pledge’ to help fight breast cancer continues with more vigour and energy based on the many positive responses we have received over the past three years,” said Joy Alukkas, Chairman and Managing Director, Joyalukkas Group. Under the ‘Joyalukkas Think Pink’ umbrella, a mass media campaign will be launched with the message ‘Self-Check Saves Lives’ to urge women to periodically undertake self-checks and this will be followed up with radio programmes and road shows wherein doctors from Zulekha Hospital will educate the public with tips and tools to fight and prevent the disease. The campaign will also include free breast consultation vouchers, a special educational booklet, distributed across the UAE, which will detail self-detection methods, in addition to key facts of the disease plus feature articles and quotes from reputed personalities in support of this grand initiative.
In addition, special orientation programmes are planned in universities, schools, government offices and various corporates across the UAE.
