Dubai: A dedicated clinic for diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, the first of its kind in the UAE, has been opened by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) at Latifa hospital. Endometriosis is a long-term (chronic) condition that causes painful or heavy periods. It often causes pain in the lower abdomen pelvis or lower back. The disease affects about 10 per cent of women between ages 12 to 80, and is considered the third most common cause for hospitalisation of female patients in the age group 15-50.
Laparoscopic surgery is one of the treatment options for endometriosis. The clinic is equipped with the latest medical devices, and has qualified and experienced doctors and nursing staff.
