Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) yesterday announced that it has added several new features to the dedicated website for its Al Shamil high-speed Internet service for home users. Launched last year, the Al Shamil service is based on Digital Standard Line technology.

Among the new features on the website is a unique interactive facility which allows potential customers to enter their residential telephone number to check not only whether their line will support Al Shamil, but also the availability of the service in the area of their residence.

The website also includes a demonstration section to give customers a first-hand simulated feel of the various features of the service. The other features added to the website include an updated section on the pricing of the service with details of installation costs and modem costs, and a separate section devoted to promotional offers.

The Al Shamil high-speed internet service costs Dh250 per month for unlimited Internet usage along with a one-time installation charge of Dh200.

EIM suggests a minimum configuration of a Pentium Class PC with 32 MB RAM, 25 MB Disk Space, Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 and availability of a 32-bit PCI bus slot or USB port. The Al Shamil service does not currently support the Apple MacIntosh system. For further details, visit: www.alshamil.net.ae
