Dubai: A 28-year-old woman stabbed and killed a man after he attempted to rape her, according to a report by Emarat Al Youm.

The woman, from Uganda, stabbed the man, also from Uganda, after he entered her home without permission and grabbed her by the neck to attempt rape.

A private company security guard later found the woman outside, where she was screaming hysterically and had blood stained clothes and hands.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Dubai Police Chief, said that the incident occurred on April 10, and that the security guard drove the woman to Al Naif Police station, where the woman gave a detailed statement, confessing that she stabbed a man in the chest after he attempted to rape her.

According to the woman’s statement, the man worked as a driver and used to drive her around to various locations. The woman, who lives alone in an apartment in Al Murar neighbourhood, is on a visit visa to the UAE, and works in the field of business.

Al Mazeina said that according to the woman’s statement, the man tried to rape her, and she fought him off desperately. “He kept coming on to her. The woman then pushed him hard, laying him on the floor, and ran to the kitchen where she acquired the knife,” he said.

“The man still came on to her, even after the waved the knife in the air and yelled at him to back off. When he attacked her again, the woman stabbed him two times, once in the waist and the second time in the chest. She then ran out of the apartment and was found covered in blood by the security guard, who drove her to the police station,” he said.

Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, said that an ambulance and emergency medical team was dispatched to the apartment. The man was found dead, drowning in a pool of blood with a knife next to his body.

Lt. Col Ahmad Humaid Al Merri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), said that according to evidence collected from the scene of the crime, the woman’s statement appears to be valid. He said tests where carried out by forensic doctors on the man’s body, and that scrapings under the man’s fingernails had the woman’s DNA. A test was also carried out on the woman, and she was found to be a virgin.

The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
