Sharjah: The Criminal Investigation Department in the Eastern Region, affiliated to the Sharjah Police Department, has stopped a gang believed to be responsible for a Dh110,500 theft.
The trio is accused of stealing the cash from the safe of a car company in Khor Fakkan.
Two of the culprits were caught after police received a tip-off regarding the theft, which led officers to suspects who confessed to the crime after their arrest.
The men told police they had cooperated with a third individual who stole the safe and fled the UAE.
Police are hunting for the third gang member.
Their stolen haul is still in the country as the thieves had planned to send the money in instalments out of the country.
The suspects were sent to the public prosecutor’s office after they were detained.
The Eastern Region’s police department called on company owners and trading shops and offices to take appropriate measures to secure their safes and funds through security personnel.
