Dubai: Qatar’s Health Ministry announced on Saturday that medical tests had revealed a new case of coronavirus infection in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12, according to the Asharq Al Awsat daily.
In a statement published on its website, the ministry said the infected person wasa Qatari citizen who had returned from Iran recently, and was placed under quarantine upon his arrival. The ministry noted that the patient was admitted to the Communicable Disease Center under complete isolation, and is in stable health condition, stressing that the patient has not had any contact with community members since his arrival, according to German News Agency.
Most of the cases in the neighboring Gulf states are either people who have traveled to Iran or have contracted the disease from Iranians, according to Reuters. Earlier yesterday, Qatar confirmed three more cases of the novel coronavirus. The infected are in quarantine; two of them are Qataris while the other one is from different nationality who recently returned from Iran.
