Manama: The Qatar Foundation is hosting an undergraduate admissions campaign in Bahrain, in an attempt to prepare young people in the Arabian Gulf to become future leaders of a post-carbon society.

Qatar Foundation representatives from the universities at Education City in Qatar have been visiting secondary schools in Bahrain and meeting with students, faculty and counselors, from Sunday until Wednesday, to raise awareness about the ‘Discover Education City’ academic programme, the admissions process, financial aid and scholarship options.

One of the underlying goals of the foundation and Education City is to retain the best and brightest youth from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to ensure the future cultural, infrastructural and economic prosperity of the region in a post-carbon world, officials said.

"The commitment each university partner makes is to develop the full potential of every student, including not only their intellectual capacity but also their communication skills, self-awareness, character and leadership potential," Dennis Roberts, Assistant Vice President for Faculty and Student Services of Qatar Foundation, said. "This is the kind of education that transforms the lives of young people who will then do the same for the workplaces and communities that they will serve”.

Education City was established by Qatar Foundation for Education.
