Manama: Shaikh Rashid Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the brother of king Hamad, died on Friday in Germany, the Royal Court said.
The deceased will be buried in Riffa, south of Manama, on Saturday and condolences will be accepted at the Riffa Palace on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the court said.
A seven-day mourning period was announced, during which all flags will be flown at half-mast.
Shaikh Rashid, the third brother of King Hamad, did not have a political position and was the chairman of the equestrian and horse racing club.
King Hamad was scheduled to deliver an address on Friday afternoon marking the National Day and the Accession to the Throne Day. However, the speech will be postponed as a result of the mourning.
