"Books are the food of youth", wrote Cicero. In a time when parents worry about how to get children to read, Book World library offers a wide range of books to help children as well as adults explore the pleasures of reading.

Located in Karama behind Bombay Chowpatty and Goldilocks restaurant and run by Leena, this library is not just for children. She said their aim is to encourage everybody, from small children right up to the older generation, to read and return to books.

The library, which opened up with 1,000 books, now has a collection of more than 10,000 books on topics that include home and beauty, health and fitness, medical, self-improvement, self-help travel and magazines for adults. Children can choose their favourite comics and choose from classics to contemporary books.

Book World is different from other libraries as there are no reading charges, only a reasonable membership fee. A family can borrow upto four books at a time and return the next day to select another set of books free of charge. Leena said she came up with an idea to start such a library because of her passion for books and the desire to make reading popular and to spread joy.

The library keeps updating its stock to offer people valuable resources for all kinds of references. Leena said they also plan to organise activities for children after the summer vacation.
Book World is open from 10.00am to 1.00pm and 5.00pm to 10.00pm. For more information call 04-3969697.
