Stagnant water from this year's rains still remains in certain areas of Sharjah. Gulf News reader Syed Kabir said: "It is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects." Image Credit: Syed Kabir/ Gulf News Reader

I would like to draw the attention of authorities to the presence of a large, dirty and stagnant pool of water in a very populated residential area in Muweilah, Sharjah.

This pool has been there for the past few months and has only grown in size due to the rain.

It is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects. These insects can prove to be a serious health hazard in the making, especially since there are lots of buildings — and residents — nearby. I hope that my community report may help to improve the situation for my neighbours [and residents in my] community.

I request [that] the [concerned] authorities... drain the pool at the earliest possible time.
