Dubai: Dubai: Almost 3.5 million passengers passed through Dubai Airport last August, according to a Ministry of Interior official.

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai(GDRFA), said the number of visitors passing through Dubai International in August, reached 3,460,000. The figures, released yesterday by the GDRFA, includes both arrivals and departures.

Al Merri said 5,000 transaction were completed at the GDRFA’s external residency centre, which works around the clock, seven days a week at Terminal 3.

“The center receive all kind of residency and visa transactions which will be completed in efficiency and short period of time,” he said.

Special emphasis is placed by officers at passport control to make sure passenger movement is smooth and goes as quickly as possible.

“A huge number of passengers are using the airport and the GDRFA staff and officers are doing the best to serve the airport users,” he said.
