His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled a corporate logo of the new Dubai Airports at Dubai Airshow. The new symbol, part of Dubai's efforts to become an aviation hub in the Middle East in near future, shows a star representing the city of Dubai.

Dubai Airports was formed in April on the heels of restructuring of the former Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and now manages both the existing Dubai International Airport as well as the new Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central in Jebel Ali.

In a statement, Shaikh Mohammad said that “whereas the creation of Dubai Airports indicates the global nature of our aspirations, the corporate identity unveiled today reflects out drive to be at the frontline of global aviation and logistics as well as our vision to be the world's aviation hub in the years to come.''

As much as $82 billion is being invested in the next decade by the Dubai government in all areas of the aviation sector, including both airports.

Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO, said in a press conference that the new logo “reflects the growing importance of Dubai as a world destination, while reflecting the unique heritage of the culture in the region.''

The airshow staged its daily shows today but did run into some turbulence when more than 50 media members were delayed for more than two hours attempting to get into the show on Sunday.

Even though many reporters had already filed registration papers with the airshow for media accreditation, they were not given media badges and were told to reapply.
In the end, many didn't get their badges and some were seen leaving the airshow.

Some media members did manage to get in because they picked up their media badges the day before.
