Dubai: Emaar is preparing to beef up security in Emirates Living by installing CCTV cameras and an Automated Access Control System which screen cars entering and exiting the community.

A trial run of these security measures is currently under way in Springs 3.

In an e-mail to residents, Emaar said: “Your wellbeing, safety and security are our primary concerns and therefore we are pleased to inform you of a new initiative in your community – an Automated Access Control System (AACS) and a CCTV surveillance system are to be installed at the gatehouse vehicle entry/exit point to your community.”

Residents who had raised security concerns and even embarked on a massive signature campaign demanding a security overhaul appeared happy with the move.

“Finally, our efforts have yielded results. As they say, it’s better late than never,” said a resident.

If successful, the security system will be extended to other Emirates Living communities.

“This is fantastic. We have filled a form providing our car details and will be given access cards shortly,” said Sayma Liske, a Tunisian home-owner at Springs 3.

Access cards will not be given to residents who have outstanding service fees, said Emaar.

The developer said once AACS kicks in, only the registered vehicles of residents will be able to enter the community.
