Ras Al Khaimah: A court has convicted a 15-year-old boy and a housemaid of having illicit relationship and sexual intercourse.
The Criminal Court in Ras Al Khaimah convicted the Ethiopian housemaid and 15-year-old Emirati schoolboy despite the woman's claims that she was raped by him.
The housemaid, who gave birth to baby girl, was handed a sentence of three months in jail while the teenager was sent to the juvenile delinquency centre for observation.
According to a judicial source from Ras Al Khaimah Court, the housemaid told the court that the boy forced her to have sex with him.
The source, however, said that the boy stated that the housemaid who is many years older than him seduced him and asked to have sex with him.
Locked up
The housemaid told the court that she was locked up for nine months in the house of her sponsor until she gave birth to her baby.
The housemaid said that she went to Saqr hospital in Ras Al Khaimah accompanied by another housemaid who works with her.
Sources from the hospital said that the housemaid failed to prove that she is married here.
The hospital informed police who arrested the housemaid after she gave birth to her baby girl.
The housemaid's lawyer appealed the sentence in an attempt to prove to the court that the boy raped the housemaid.
