The Central Bank has issued three commemorative silver coins to mark the Dubai Islamic Bank's silver jubilee. They are in denominations of Dh50, Dh25 and Dh1 and will go into circulation tomorrow.

The face bears the UAE's name in Arabic and English, plus the denomination. The obverse bears the logo marking the bank's silver jubilee. The coins can be bought from the tellers at the Dubai Islamic Bank. They will be sold at face value plus Dh17 as a premium for the Dh50 coin and Dh15 for the Dh25 coin.

The Dh50 coin weighs 40 grammes and has a diameter of 40mm. It is an alloy of 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent copper. The Dh25 coin has a diameter of 28mm and weighs 20 grammes. It is also an alloy of 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent copper.

The third coin (Dh1) has a diameter of 24mm and a weight of 6.4 grammes. This coin is made of 75 per cent copper and 25 per cent nickel.
