Six new parks are expected to be finished by the year-end at Al Dhaid, which will also witness roads development and beautification projects, according to Ali Al Tunaiji, Director of Sharjah Municipality's branch at Al Dhaid.
The engineering work for Al Rashidiyah, Al Dhaid 1 and Al Dhaid 2 parks have been completed by the engineering section and handed over to the horticulture section to carry out greenery work, while the municipality has been allocated the sites for establishing three other parks, he said.
"The engineering section has started preparing the designs for these new parks, at Al Thamid, Al Mleiha and Al Madam," he said.
"The six parks are expected to be ready to receive visitors by the end of this year," he affirmed.
Al Tunaiji explained the municipality had also carried out levelling operations at Al Madam-Nazwi-Dubai Road and roundabout, and removed the sand alongside for 10 kilometres at the beginning of this summer. The project was implemented in two phases.
He said workers of the machinery section were assigned to finish the project and help open it up to traffic as quickly as possible.
The project was carried out in coordination with Al Madam police station which diverted and regulated the traffic movement during the execution of the project.
"Twelve trucks, two bulldozers and allied earth-moving equipment were employed," he added.
Levelling operations were also carried out in the vicinity of the Women's Club at Al Rafee'ah area, and cleanliness campaigns launched in adjoining areas.
The municipality finished the industrial area project through in-house resources, without resorting to private companies.
Al Tunaiji added a special public relations and media section will be established at the municipality's Al Dhaid branch, to coordinate with the head office.
