Abu Dhabi: A recovery truck driver died in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening while six other motorists were injured in two road accidents, the Abu Dhabi Police said on Monday.
The police said tailgating caused the accidents.
The Abu Dhabi Police Central Command and Operations Center received two calls about the incidents.
The driver died in a three-vehicle collision; six others recieved minor injuries in another four-vehicle pile up on the airport road in the capital.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Abdullah Yousuf Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of the Department of Traffic of the External Areas in Abu Dhabi Police, said preliminary investigations pointed to the accidents being caused due to insufficient distance between vehicles.
Al Suwaidi called on motorists and road users to take precautionary measures and stop in an appropriate place that does not endanger the lives of other road users, and the road shouldn't be busy.
Al Suwaidi called for not gathering at the places of accidents, which would be dangerous to their lives.

He said that the gathering of people at the incident sites, is an uncivilised behaviour that may hinder the efforts of the rescue teams, and prevent them from reaching to the site. He also asked people to make way for ambulances and rescue vehicles to the accident scene.
