Dubai: More than 2,000 women workers living in labour accommodation clusters in Dubai will be given care boxes in a campaign titled ‘Unboxing Kindness’.
Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative will launch the campaign at Dubai Ladies Club on Saturday.
In collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, the campaign will support female security guards, restroom attendants and mosque keepers.
The ‘Unboxing Kindness’ campaign is among the various corporate social responsibility initiatives and events organised by Dubai Ladies Club in the UAE and abroad, Lamia Abdul Aziz Khan, director of the club, said in a press release.
“The campaign is held in line with Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s dedication to humanitarian efforts and our wise leadership’s commitment to deeply rooted Emirati values of giving, compassion and unity.”
The campaign goes beyond collecting donations, as it invites people to not only donate care box items but also volunteer to pack the boxes and distribute them to the working ladies in the labour accommodation clusters in Al Quoz.
The process is divided into three stages: donation, packing and distribution.
The donation stage invites members of the public to donate from a list of essential items a lady would need, including food products such as rice, lentils, water, cooking oil and dates as well as cleaning, hygiene, health and skincare products.
Donations will be received on June 2, 3 and 4 at Dubai Ladies Club on Jumeirah Road.
The second stage invites people to volunteer and pack the donated items into the care boxes at the club on June 5, 6 and 7 from 8am to 12am, after which the third stage of distribution will take place on June 8.
Representatives from Dubai Women’s Establishment, Dubai Ladies Club and the Emirates Red Crescent will accompany volunteers to distribute care boxes to more than 2,000 working ladies in their accommodation units in Al Quoz.
“The ‘Unboxing Kindness’ campaign is being rolled out through Dubai Ladies Club’s traditional media and social media platforms, inviting people and organisations to join us in expressing our gratitude to the working ladies in women labour camps for their tireless, consistent efforts that contribute invaluably to our society’s thriving development,” said Khan.
“We have a responsibility to recognise these ladies’ essential role in our day-to-day lives and to urge our community to share our collective appreciation towards all that they do,” she added.
