Soubin Shahir plays lead in ‘Sudani From Nigeria’

As the film title indicates, this story is about a Sudanese man from Nigeria who comes to stay in Kerala, and then joins the local football team.

Directed by newcomer Zakaria, with screenplay and dialogues co-written with Muhsin Parari, Sudani From Nigeria is centred around the local football matches held in the Malabar district — better known as Sevens Football Tournaments.

Nigerian actor Samuel Abiola Robinson makes his Indian cinematic debut with this film.

However, this story is not only about football, clarifies Zakaria, who earlier made short films and documentaries.

“This is an emotional family drama happening against this backdrop. Soubin Shahir plays the lead. Shahir is the manager of a football club,” he said.

Sudani From Nigeria releases in India on March 23.
