Doha: The life of modern-day Qatar’s founder, Shaikh Jassim Bin Mohammad Bin Thani, and how he managed to unify tribes will come under the spotlight at a book discussion on Wednesday.

A monthly book discussion is organised by Qatar National Library (QNL), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).

The discussion of “Jassim – The Leader: Founder of Qatar” by author and former Minister of Economy and Commerce Shaikh Mohammad Bin Ahmad Bin Jassim Al Thani will be held in English, organisers said.

“The book offers interesting and thorough insights into Qatar’s history from when it was founded to the present day,” a statement said. “Published in 2013, the biography highlights Qatar in the 1830s and offers readers a unique insight into the recently established capital, Doha.”

The monthly book discussion series seeks to encourage youth, students and the community to embrace reading and enables participants to engage in an open discussion on topics related to the book.

QNL’s November Book Discussion will feature “The Holy Sai” by Qatari writer Abdul Aziz Al Mahmoud.
