COVID-19: Oman registers 1,262 cases, 6 deaths

Latest cases take infection tally to 48,997, fatalities to 224

Cairo: Oman confirmed 1,262 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, raising the country's overall infections to 48,997.

The newly diagnosed cases include 968 Omanis and 294 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said, according to the Omani news agency ONA.

In recent days, Oman has reported an increase in daily infection rates of the potentially deadly virus.

The ministry Tuesday announced six new deaths from COVID-19, bringing Oman's total such fatalities to 224.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have reached 31,000, an increase of 1,836 against the tally reported the day before, the ministry's update showed.
