Dubai: With humidity shooting up to 99 per cent there is a strong chance of early morning fog again Wednesday because of the misty conditions, forecasters said.

Thick fog blanketed most of the coastal areas early Tuesday morning starting from 6 am and reducing visibility down to 200 meters at some places. The fog lifted at 8.45 am and the met office advises motorists to drive carefully in the mornings over the next two days.

Police have advised motorists not to switch on hazard lights when driving in the fog. Abu Dhabi police have set up a fog advisory after a huge 60-car pile-up at Ghantoot two years ago.

“This is the winter season and there is a cold wave everywhere,” said the Sharjah duty forecaster, noting that it is also foggy in Indian cities and heavy snow across Europe.

The night-time temperature has dropped down to 9 degree Celsius and it will be very cold in the mountainous areas and inland for some time. The maximum temperature will be around 25 degree Celsius.

The outlook for the next two days is partly cloudy over most of the areas across the emirates. Light to moderate winds freshening at times and moderate seas.

It will be very cold at night on Thursday and cloudy over the Western region and the islands, according to the Abu Dhabi met office.
