The FIFA World Cup will take place this year in Russia, from June 14 to July 15, 2018. But while we may be about eight weeks away from the event, residents have started asking questions as to how, and when, can they gain access to the Qatari-owned sports channel beIN Sports.
beIN Sports currently holds the exclusive rights to broadcast the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in the region.

An Etisalat customer service representative explained that there is still no confirmation on which premium packages will offer the football games, or how much they will cost, as Etisalat officials continue negotiation with organisers.
However, the customer service rep assured that “customers will be notified about any update on Etisalat’s official outlets of communication.”
Du customers were also notified about the latest update from the telecom provider, which explained that they will not be broadcasting any matches to its subscribers.
As of now, only customers with a beIN satellite subscription will be able to watch the sporting event.
In a circular recently issued by du, regarding the World Cup 2018 advertisement on its sports channels, it states that while the offer is visible to duTV beIN package subscribers, “the offer advertised on the beIN channels is targeted to the DTH (satellite) customers and is not applicable to du Consumer Home Service customers having duTV services.”
