Fourteen players were selected for the Pepsi-ACC Trophy UAE 2000 to be held in Dubai and Sharjah from November 15-24. The tournament is organised by the Emirates Cricket Board in conjunction with the councils of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
Saeed Al Saffar will lead the Emirates Cricket Board team while Mohammed Tauqir will be his deputy. Naveed Anjum, former Pakistan test and one day international player, is the coach. The teams playing are Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Maldives, Japan and Kuwait.
The winners and runners-up will play in the next Asia cup to be held in Pakistan with India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The team: Saeed Al Saffar, (Captain) Mohammed Tauqir, (V. Capt) Salman Farook, Asim Saeed, Atif Iftikhar, Danish Jabbar, Mairaj Khaliq, Ahmed Nadeem, Babar Malik, Mohammed Nadeem, Mehmood Pir Bux, Kashif Khan, Nasir Siddiqui and Mohammed Afzal. The four reserve players are: Abdullah Hanif, Sameer Zia, Fardan Khalid and Sajjad Butt.
