After a three-day rest after their return from Brunei, the UAE soccer National squad began their seven-day warm-up camp in Al Ain on Thursday evening, as part of their 2002 World cup preparations.

The team are getting ready for their crucial encounter against India, due to kick off at Qattara Stadium in Al Ain on Thursday. India beat the UAE by a solitary goal in the game played in Bangalore two weeks ago.

The UAE National outfit conducted their first training session at Khalifa stadium yesterday, under the guidance of French coach Henry Michel. Most of the players underwent medical tests that showed their fitness.

The team are likely to continue their training sessions at the same venue and scheduled to move to Qattara stadium on Monday. Trainings are confined only to evenings with only one morning session to be conducted tomorrow at the players' residence field.

The team's technical and administrative body held a meeting with the players hours upon their arrival to Hilton Al Ain. The talk was concentrated on the outcome of the previous phase. The players were also reviewed with the forthcoming programme prior to their home match against India.

The technical body will hold two more meetings with the players during which coach Henry Michel will analyse their away game, point out their mistakes and take remedial measures before the match.

The Indian mission are due to arrive here on Tuesday and stay at Intercontinental Hotel. They start their training sessions at Al Ain Club fields and conduct their main training at the match venue on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Obaid Hamad supervisor of the UAE National team assured that the players are determined to make up for their unexpected defeat in India. "They are enthusiastic and keen enough to overtake India and continue their march to win the rest of the games collecting 12 points that would help them to qualify to Asian final stage," added Hamad.
