Operating hours on three Tasjeel vehicle testing and registration sites have been extended. The working hours are now from 7am to 9pm Saturday to Wednesday, and 7am to 2pm on Thursdays. Before they were from seven in the morning to three in the afternoon.

Dubai Police and Tasjeel vehicle test and registration sites operated by Emirates Petroleum Products Co. have made the move to reduce the pressure and long queues.

Tasjeel sites which have extended working hours are located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Aweer and at Al Ghusais.

Major Hani Jamal Al Sawalihi, Director of the Vehicle Licensing Department at Dubai Police, said Tasjeel has become a popular service since its launch a few years back.

"Before the new hours, clients visiting the sites would leave at the sight of long queues before finishing their paperwork.

"The pressure on the service was mounting and customer demand was high to extend working hours."

Working hours in Ghusais branch were therefore extended during December. "We now process over 600 applications a day at the Ghusais site with the evening shift looking after 250. Before it was around 400 vehicles a day,"he said.

As for the site in Sheikh Zayed Road in Barsha Area, Al Sawalihi, he said that they introduced new times last week.

"Before we were processing 350 applications a day but now it has gone up to 420," he said. He pointed out that they are expecting the numbers to increase after more people become aware of these new times.
