Kris Aquino, a famous TV talk show host and the controversial daughter of former president Cory Aquino has admitted she has finally ended her relationship with Joey Marquez, mayor of suburban Paranaque and the estranged husband of actress Alma Moreno.

"It has to end, but I still love him, still love him. You don't say you don't feel anything anymore for this person overnight," she explained tearfully on her TV show, Morning Girls.

"We both realise that we can't have a future together with so much bitterness in the past and a present that cannot be reconciled," the young Aquino said.

Her older brother, Congressman Benigno Aquino, said, "I respect her feelings but I hope she does not give our 70 year old mother too much stress." Marquez, when asked to respond, said, "I have no comment."

She and Marquez had a year-and-a-half live-in relationship. Their violent break-up hogged the headlines and TV shows for three days. The separation also reunited the young Aquino with her mother, a devout Catholic, and her brother.

Earlier, before announcing the end of her relationship with Marquez, the young Aquino admitted that she and Marquez have been seeing each other again. She also hinted that Marquez promised to tell her mother his plan to marry her, and that he would show papers which could attest that he is free to marry again.

"He still has to do a lot of things to gain my trust. He has to do right by my mom's (standard). He needs to face her, if his annulment papers come out," she said, adding this was one of the things that she and Marquez have been discussing after they started seeing each other again.

In March 2002, Marquez filed for the annulment of his 12-year marriage to actress Moreno. They have four children, Yeoj, Win Win, BJ and Em-em.

Explaining why she and Marquez started dating again, she said, "We need to have a resolution. We both know what we want out of life. The worst thing you say is never, then eat your words," adding that she also set conditions for their reconciliation.
