Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has stressed the UAE’s keenness on contributing to establishing the basis of cultural and intellectual rapprochement between people.
Shaikh Mohammad also met a number of prominent UAE and foreign poets and intellectuals — taking part in the Emirates Air Festival for Literature — in the context of his continuous backing and support of the literature and cultural movement, and his keenness on enriching the cultural environment in the country and encouraging all initiatives that will expand the intellectual and civilisational interaction between different people across the globe.
The meeting took place during Shaikh Mohammad’s attendance of a cultural evening themed ‘Versus from the deep of the desert’. It was organised by the Emirates Air Festival for Literature, in cooperation with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority in Al Aweer area. The event was also attended by a host of poets, intellectuals and guests from the UAE and abroad.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the guests of Dubai and exchanged talks with them regarding their contribution to this artistic event and its affect as a window for positive cultural communication.
Shaikh Mohammad ordered that this cultural evening be repeated every year to maintain the bridges of communication between the intellectuals and poets of the UAE with their Western counterparts for mutual benefits of getting to know the culture of the other
Shaikh Mohammad arrived at the site of the festival and was received by popular chants and was greeted by everyone before the evening started where everyone listened to poetry that were well received by the audience.
The evening also witnessed a dinner banquet with traditional Emirati dishes and was also accompanied by popular and traditional folkloric activities and dances.
