Dubai: The ministries and federal government bodies will be closed on Thursday, May 5, 2016 as the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that Isra’a Wal Mi’raj paid holiday for all ministries and federal government sector workers will be moved to Thursday, May 5, 2016.
Isra’a Wal Mi'raj holiday for the private sector is also set on Thursday, May 5th.
Work resumes on Sunday, May 8, 2016.
Al Isra'a Wal Mi’raj is an Islamic holiday which is observed annually on the 27th day of the Islamic month of Rajab, according to the Hjiri calendar. It falls on May 4, Wednesday.
Al Isra’a Wal Mi’raj roughly translates as “Night Journey and Ascension”.

Official UAE news agency WAM said that the ‘Isra and Mi’raj’ Day falls on Wednesday, May 4, but the holiday will be moved to Thursday.
Public holidays in the UAE may be moved to the beginning or end of the week if they fall between two working days.
