Two Filipino pop concerts due to be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi today and tomorrow have been cancelled following the terrorist attacks in the U.S.

Organisers of the concerts by Pops Fernandes and Side A say they felt it was inappropriate for the events to go ahead and that they will be rescheduled.

Bong Guerrero, managing director of Prime Venture, said the artists had checked in at Manila airport for their flight to Dubai on Tuesday when news of the attacks broke.

"Their flight was kept on hold and we contacted them at the airport," he said. "After almost an hour and a half, when we came to realise the magnitude of the incident, we decided to re-schedule the concert for a more appropriate time."

Guerrero said there had been a good response to the concerts from the Filipino community, but people had been understanding about the cancellation.

"We have been inundated with calls inquiring about the programme, but we thought it would be inappropriate to hold a concert at this time when so many lives have been lost and people are in grief," he said.

"We are going to hold the show when the time is more appropriate. All the tickets will be honoured and those who have bought tickets are advised to hold on to them until further notice."
