Downpour continues as Dubai receives record rainfall

Dubai: Rains continued for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday in the UAE, but were far lighter than before.

Initial heavy downpours in many emirates, including Dubai and the northern emirates gave way to lighter rain during the morning and eventually dry weather.

However low lying areas and roundabouts, mainly in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, are still water logged or flooded.

According to Dubai Met office, Dubai received a record rainfall of 110 millimeters till Tuesday.

With schools closed, traffic on main roads in Dubai and Sharjah, as compared to Tuesday, was less, except in some areas.

Traffic police were manning signals in many areas in Dubai and Sharjah early on Wednesday as most of the lights were not working.
