Dubai: Summer vacation began for tens of thousands of students in the UAE with Indian schools closing on Thursday.
All schools following Indian curricula will begin their summer break from July 1 to September 2.
Most of the schools following other curricula are closing by July 5. However, they will also reopen on September 2, as per the academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education.
This year, Eid Al Adha falls in August and hence there will not be any extension to the summer break.
It is now time for summer camps and fun activities for students staying back here while others are setting out for vacation trips. Airports in the UAE are gearing up for the busiest days of the year as expat families leave for their long summer holidays.
This Friday and the following weekend will be the busiest days to fly out of Dubai and those who are scheduled to travel are advised to take precautions to avoid potential delays, Dubai Airports had said.
“The weekend of July 5-8 is anticipated to be a busier time as the majority of local schools are breaking up for the summer. We expect during those few days to welcome over 1.1 million travellers,” said Eugene Barry, executive vice-president, commercial, Dubai Airports.
Meanwhile, road traffic is expected to ease once all schools close for summer vacation.
