Dubai: Dubai Police Commander in Chief Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina has affirmed that the news circulated in media lately about two Austrian women trespassing into a Saudi woman’s apartment and stealing SR15 million in cash and US$ 4 million in cheques in January 2014 are inaccurate.

He clarified that the defendants are daughters of victim’s deceased Austrian husband and the case is a matter of family dispute, according to a press release issued by the Dubai Media Office on Tuesday.

Recalling details of the incident, Major General Al Mazeina explained that Dubai Police received in January a report about a robbery in a tower at Dubai Marina, and investigation team moved immediately to the scene. The victim informed the police that her stepdaughters identified as C.T,) 37 years and C.D.Z, 35 years, assaulted and threatened her and stole cash, documents, contracts, cheques, jewellery worth Dh16,000. Investigations then revealed that both defendants had left the country before police received the report, and the case was referred to the public prosecution.

Major General Al Mazeina asserted that the case was a mere family dispute.

The victim is the defendants’ stepmother, and they have a dispute about the deceased husband’s inheritance.
Major General Al Mazeina confirmed that both defendants are still outside the United Arab Emirates.

For accuracy, Dubai Police urged the media to communicate directly with the media center at Dubai Police General Headquarter to obtain updated information related to such cases.
