Dubai: Power went off for a few seconds tonight at about 10:30 pm and returned before most people could realise. The incident surprised some residents. However, before one could realise, power returned, without a major incident.
The outage did not impact any flights at the Dubai International Airport, the busiest in the Middle East.
"We have a power generator in place in case of a power cut. The brief power outage, which was for about a few seconds, did not impact the airport's operations," a Dubai Airports source told Gulf News at midnight.
The last major power cut took place in June 2005 that lasted for 4-8 hours in parts of the city.
Officials of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), which is solely responsible for power generation, transmission and distribution in the emirate of Dubai, could not be reached at the time of writing the report.
