Dubai: One of the highlights of this year’s World Government Summit is a rare invitation to step forward in time to witness life in 2035.
Indeed, the Museum of the Future — opened on Sunday to the public and to 3,000 summit delegates — is drawing curious visitors inside the surreal world of tomorrow as envisioned by futurist experts around the globe.
Located in a large box adjacent to Madinat Jumeirah, the museum is beckoning visitors to “see how technology could evolve to enhance our bodies and minds, explore what role it might play in our social and family lives, and discuss how it could be used to manage complex social and economic systems”.
Organised by the Dubai Foundation for the Museum of the Future, the museum features a special section dubbed Fall, Augmentation Upgrades, a Field Guide to the Future, which presents a variety of highly imaginative modern gadgets that help us maintain our weight, see the thoughts of our loved ones or control our hormones with a device to tailor our mood.
The devices use robotics and artificial intelligence.
On its website, www.museumofthefuture.ae, organisers said the event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Doors open at 6pm and close at 8pm. The tour of the museum takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
