Sharjah Police have recently added a page to their web site for public complaints and suggestions, Colonel Saleh Al Mutawa, Commander-in-Chief, said yesterday. Entitled "The Open Doors", the e-service received a good response from the public who filed a variety of complaints and suggestions.

The service is aimed at building bridges of communication with the various communities.

Col Al Mutawa called on the public to file their complaints and suggestions including those related to Sharjah police staff.

"We work very objectively and committees are set up to investigate complaints filed against members of the police force. Penalties are imposed whenever the staff involved proved to be at fault.

"We deal with all complaints seriously whether the complainant is a national or an expatriate. Law is above all, we are impartial and we do not have any sort of favouritism," he stressed.

The relevant department should investigate the complaints and work to solve them. Any suggestion would be studied and if necessary action would be taken to implement it, he explained.

According to the type and volume of the complaint, some are personally investigated by the Commander-in-Chief.

"We are pleased to serve the public as best as we can. All who have rights will get them and we call on the public to cooperate with us to maintain security," he said.

The public may file their complaints at www.shjpolice.gov.ae or at comments@shjpolice.gov.ae or call: 5637999.
