Manama: Yemeni officials should engage in introspection and reassess their stances towards the UAE, Dr Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said,

Reacting to claims made in an interview by Yemeni Interior Minister Ahmad Al Maisari that the UAE was controlling entry into the seaport and airport of Aden, Gargash said the minister should reconsider his targets.

“Should I remind Minister Ahmad Al Maisari about the sacrifice of our martyr Saeed Al Hajeri, and the devotion of his colleagues? Aim your bullets at the Al Houthis, Mr Minister,” Gargash posted on his Twitter account where he has close to 770,000 followers.

UAE national Al Hajeri was martyred in Yemen last week in the fight to reinstate legitimacy in the country.

In another tweet, the UAE official charged that Yemeni officials had lost their political compass and said that action should replace lamentations.

“Unfortunately, some Yemeni government officials compare the role of the UAE to that of Iran. The loss of their compass will not make us forget our main mission within the Arab alliance of defeating Al Houthis, reinstating the state and initiating development. This is time for genuine work, away from lamentations,” Gargash said.

In a television interview, Al Maisari said that he did not feel he had the authority of an interior minister.

However, the claims made by the minister were widely condemned on social media, with some users stressing that they harmed his reputation.
