Dubai: People with expired IDs, driving licenses and passports will not be fined and will be renewed after customer services of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) reopen, Oman Police announced on Tuesday.
An official from the ROP said:” There will be no fines for those whose IDs, driving licenses and passports have expired and will be renewed upon reopening police services.”
The move comes as part of the Sultanate’s precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Oman has taken several precautionary measures to combat COVID-19 including closing all public parks, stopping all public gatherings such as weddings and funerals, and suspending Friday prayers in mosques.
The gulf country has also ended the current academic year early before the scheduled calendar after suspending all schools and universities. It also banned the entry of non-GCC citizens through all land, sea and air ports, and will place anyone entering the Sultanate under quarantine.
But just yesterday, the Ministry of Transport announced the development of a plan to restart domestic and international flights.
