Manama: Nine policemen were injured, including four seriously, late Tuesday after an angry man crashed his car into them, the General Director of the Central Governorate Police said.
"The policemen were carrying out their duty in Nuwaidrat and dealing with rioters and saboteurs when one of those involved in the acts of sabotage was injured in his head," he said.
"His brother immediately drove his car at full speed into the policemen. Four sustained serious injuries and five suffered multiple wounds. The driver was also hurt in the criminal attack," the officer said in a statement.
The attack occurred two weeks before the state of national safety - the emergency laws imposed by Bahrain in mid-March initially for a period of three months - is scheduled to be lifted.
Nuwaidrat is about 12 kilometres south of Manama, the capital.
